Bug...If you are Installing Ubuntu 9.04 with Wubi on WinXP SP3!

Yup! It has bug, when you try to install Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) with WUBI on your system having Windows XP SP3 it won't get installed. Really, it is very disappointing, but a fact! Here the only way left is to burn a CD to install it until this bug get fixed.

Most of you must be not in a mood to give up....try...n....try......! If so, you can try these steps (I'm not sure whether its going to work this way, but we can try):

Uninstall it (if you have tried to install it earlier) from control panel.
Go to the Temp directory of windows (in my case: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp) and clear or delete all files in it.
Now reboot your system.
Now go to the folder where you kept Wubi-9.04-rev129.exe and ubuntu-9.04-desktop-i386.iso.
Try installing now, it may work if you are lucky!

Upgrading from Ubuntu 8.10

To upgrade from Ubuntu 8.10 on a desktop system, press Alt+F2 and type in "update-manager -d" (without the quotes) into the command box. Update Manager should open up and tell you: New distribution release '9.04' is available. Click Upgrade and follow the on-screen instructions.

To upgrade from Ubuntu 8.10 on a server system: install the update-manager-core/etc/update-manager/release-upgrades and set Prompt=normal; launch the upgrade tool with the command sudo do-release-upgrade; and follow the on-screen instructions.
